In cooperation with the Lesezentrum Steiermark and the ORF (state radio and television), 6 x 30 second TV spots were developed in 2017 to get Styrian children excited about the adventurous world of reading. The initiative was designed to make people aware of the importance of reading and listening. Regular reading promotes linguistic competence. Listening to stories is a critical point in children's language development. The kick-off event of the campaign took place on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in the ORF studios in Styria in the presence of the leading characters of the campaign named “book heroes”. In addition, many well-known personalities from the fields of art, culture and politics were present like for example Children's book author Karin Ammerer, Wolfgang Muchitsch, director of the Universalmuseum Joanneum, young author Fabian Schadenbauer, Radio Steiermark program director Sigrid Hroch and many more. The television and radio spots for the campaign were officially presented at the kick-off event and consequently broadcasted from the
April 3 -23, 2017, at 7 pm on ORF 2.
