Synopsis

What happens when people jointly take responsibility for the production of their food? If not the farmer alone has to bear all the consequences of bad weather, market fluctuations or overproduction? In Austria, for several years now, there have been harvest associations in which farmers and consumers come together directly: the farm no longer has customers, but members. Prices are no longer paid for individual products, but the costs of the farm as a whole are covered together. The TV documentary “Bauer sucht Crowd” is dedicated to this “community-based agriculture”. The film shows the courage it takes to try new things, the difficulties that have to be overcome and the joy of working with the earth.
